ASAI

We are a voluntary association that has been present in Turin since 1995. Each year, our programs engage hundreds of volunteers and about a thousand children and their families.

We promote interculturalism as a resource for social cohesion and active participation. We offer educational courses for children, adolescents, and adults, with a particular focus on the younger generations.

Along with academic support and Italian courses, we offer spaces for creativity, culture, and social art to support inclusion and responsible citizenship.

We operate in different neighborhoods around the city, and our initiatives maintain dialogue with the surrounding areas to tap into their desires and resources.
We really love fellowship, especially through dinners and parties: we believe in the power of gathering together and offering welcome, from small gestures to big projects.

The staff and volunteers of ASAI collaborate with the operators of the Terremondo cooperative to fulfill our projects and daily activities.

ASAI is registered in the Voluntary Organisations section of the Third Sector Single National Register (RUNTS) migrated on 15/09/2022, and in the National Register of Associations working in favor of immigrants – first section no. A/408/2005/TO

ASAI receives public funding.

Mission

We promote programs that foster inclusion, youth participation, and the social well-being of minors and adults. We offer educational opportunities in intercultural contexts, especially to people in vulnerable circumstances. We act to combat educational poverty and prevent youth from dropping out of school. We build and develop community networks and initiatives.

ASAI was founded by several families from the San Salvario neighborhood, and an educator

A low-barrier shelter for minors was inaugurated

1999

The headquarters was moved to via Sant’Anselmo

2003

The Terremondo Cooperative was established

The Employment Center Opened

2006

The Porta Palazzo Community Center was inaugurated

The Integrated Community Theatre Company assaiASAI was started

2012

The Reparative Justice initiatives began

A large party was thrown to celebrate 20 years of ASAI

Casa Aylan opens in Piobesi with the collaboration of Terremondo

Radio Linea4 goes online for the first time

The via Pinerolo Community Center was inaugurated
